A group of Drexel volunteers participated in another successful Philly Spring Cleanup this year! The 6th annual cleanup broke a record with a total of 565 official project sites, over 13,000 volunteers and 1,014,540 pounds of trash collected. And not just trash is picked up – the cleanup also offers recycling services. Volunteers this year picked up over 23,000 pounds of recyclable materials. Drexel sent at least 150 volunteers to help in the efforts.
The cleanup, sponsored by the Philadelphia Streets Department, has collected almost 7 million pounds of trash in its five years of operation. For more information, and to look for next year’s cleanup information, visit the Philadelphia Streets Department website.
