Through the Lindy Center’s First-Year Civic Engagement course, Drexel’s Business Learning Community (BLC) students have had the opportunity to work with the Mantua-Haverford Community Center. At the center, BLC students work with children from kindergarten through 8th grade tutoring them and encouraging them to focus on homework. As a part of the First Year Civic Engagement course, students are required to do 8-10 hours of service with local Philadelphia partners. Although the course requirement has been met, BLC students have enjoyed their work at the center enough to maintain their partnership into the Winter and Spring Terms.
